Raphael Pereira de Oliveira Guerra is currently a Professor at the Institute of Informatics at Fluminense Federal University, Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Check his new webpage for an updated profile.

In 2001, he passed the admission exam in 3rd place among 1476 applicants to study Computer Science at UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense), Niterói, Brazil. After two years of college, he started a junior research project at the university and focused his education on real time systems and network under the supervision of Professor Julius Leite. He finished his under-graduate studies in 2004 and was recognized the second best student ever gradutated in the department.

He immediately started his Master's in the same university, still under the guidance of Professor Julius Leite, receiving the M.Sc. Degree in September 2006. Directly after, he started his Ph.D. in the chair for real-time systems at TUKL (Technische Universität Kaiserslautern), where he participated of the EU Projects FRESCOR and ACTORS. He concluded his Ph.D with honors in June 2011, and immediately started a Post-Doc in the same chair. His research during the Ph.D. studies rendered, among others, over 10 scientific publications, a best paper award in ECRTS'08, a leading international conference on real-time systems, and an award from the "Freundeskreis der TU Kaiserslautern" for excellent academic performance with the doctorate thesis.
